Glenlivet Estate

The Glenlivet estate is a unique and special area. It lies between the Ladder and Cromdale hills in the Cairngorm National Park and the varied landscape offers some of the finest scenery in the Grampian Highlands.

The walks throughout the estate are very enjoyable and there are ones for all levels of fitness. One of my favourite walks is the “Tomintoul Country Walk”; it is about 3 miles long starting at the south end of the village. The walk passes Queen Victoria’s view which overlooks Glenavon Estate and the distant Cairngorm mountains.

The “Tomintoul Circular Walk” is another favourite. The walk follows a route through the countryside around the village. The views onto the surrounding hills are outstanding. It also links with the spur of the Speyside Way for anyone wanting to do a more strenuous and longer distance walk.

Spring

A visit to Tomintoul and The Glenlivet Estate during Spring is a magical experience. With the longer days and daffodils and snowdrops through the ground it is a joy to take many of the walks on the estate. It is always special to see the lambs frolicking in the fields.

Summer

A summer visit is always enjoyable. Walking or cycling in our area is a must. The scenery and wildlife is absolutely breathtaking. You will see Roe Deer and Red Deer on the higher walks. Enjoy the freedom of wide open spaces. The rolling heather covered hills are well worth seeing. There is so much to see and do that you will return for another visit.

Autumn

The changing colour of the leaves is beautiful and must be seen. The views are so different around every corner and always make for interesting Walking and touring. You will really enjoy exploring the area.

Winter

The estate is so lovely at this time of year with the hills and distant snow capped mountains. Walking through woods with snow clad trees is lovely, everything is so crisp, fresh and clean. We are 5 miles from the Lecht Ski Centre and the ideal place to go skiing. The Lecht offers easily accessible slopes for beginners and intermediates. Cross-country ski trials are at nearby Glenmulliach.

Come and stay at Benavon Cottage at any time of the year and sample the different seasons.
